Leslie Shannon is a futurist based in Silicon Valley, focused on new technologies from all sources and how they will converge to change the human/computer interaction in this decade. Now in her third decade of mobile communications work, she is a global 5G/Spatial Internet evangelist and network monetization specialist.
In her early career, she was the manager of the Nokia Australia FutureLab, an early developer incubator in the days of WAP, GPRS and 3G. Building on her first-hand technical and business experience of the reality of bringing applications to market, she developed an analysis service for Nokia that examined success and failure factors for operators bringing mobile data to market for 4G that proved so successful that Nokia created a new department around her work. While in this role, she was based in Finland and worked with over 100 mobile phone companies in more than 70 countries.

As Kakao Page and Kakao M merged into Kakao Entertainment in March 2021, Ryu has served as the corporate strategy director in charge of future and growth strategies. Since first joining the IT business in 2000 with Freechal, she served as head of marketing for Naver, NHN Entertainment, and global startup TOSS LAB before joining Kakao Page. Ryu earned her bachelor’s in anthropology at Seoul National University in 2001 and also studied industrial systems engineering at Yonsei University.
